What is Magical Day of Giving? This popular holiday fund-raising evening will be held on Sunday, November 23rd from 12PM to 6PM. In response to customer's comments, the 2008 Magical Day of Giving will be an all day event vs. an evening event (as held in the past). The event features exclusive savings throughout the mall, plus family-oriented activities and holiday entertainment. In addition over 50 door prizes will be awarded.
Is Magical Day of Giving open to the public? Yes, the mall is open to the general public during the event; however, purchase of a ticket by making a $5 donation to a participating non-profit organization entitles you to receive a special stamp. This stamp identifies you as a MAGICAL DAY VIP and entitles you the exclusive savings offered by mall merchants.
How do I purchase a ticket? Tickets are available to the general public by local non-profit and charitable organizations in the months leading up to the event. They can also be purchased at Eastland Mall in the Mall Office located near D Entrance.
Why is Magical Day of Giving held? It is Eastland Mall’s wish to give back to the community that is so good to us all year. 100% of the funds raised through ticket sales will go to local charities.
This event also provides a unique chance for people to get a jump start on their holiday shopping and have a lot of fun at the same time, including visiting with Santa and his special guests. With the many store discounts and specials being offered, MAGICAL DAY VIP shoppers can save money while raising funds for local non-profit and charitable groups.
How do non-profit organizations make money? The event is a unique fundraising occasion in that it presents an opportunity for local non-profits to benefit by receiving 100% of the funds raised from ticket sales. Any qualified non-profit organization, including schools, churches and other groups wishing to become a part of the event, will receive pre-printed tickets from the mall, which its members can sell to the public. There are no start-up cost or fees to the organizations that sell tickets.
Why do shoppers want to buy tickets? First, all the money generated by ticket sales is donated to the non-profit group selling the tickets. Second, purchase of a ticket also entitles shoppers to receive special offers and discounts from stores that only are available to MAGICAL DAY VIP shoppers that day. Many of last year's attendees cited the shorter holiday shopping lines as one of the most enjoyable aspects of the event. Shoppers attending will find a wide variety of family-friendly activities and entertainment, including live musical performances, plus strolling characters and much more. Magical Day of Giving will also feature special visits with Santa Claus and his entourage, complete with treats for the kids.
I don’t want to shop or make a donation. Can I just enter the drawing? You can enter the drawings by sending a 3 ½ x 5 card complete with your name, address, daytime phone number, date of birth, and email address to MDOG DRAWING c/o Eastland Mall, 2740-B Eastland Mall, Columbus, OH 43232. All mail-in entries must be post-marked by November 9, 2008. Individuals may also visit the Mall Office during regular mall hours and request an official entry form, which must be deposited into the Official Entry Box, located near the Food Court, on the day of the event. Incomplete entries will not be accepted. Individuals must be 18 years of age or older to be eligible for prizes and must be able to provide proper identification to receive a prize.
Tell me more about the prizes? Prizes of varying values will be awarded throughout the day. To be eligible to win a prize, you must complete an official entry form on the day of the event and deposit in the Official Prize Entry box located near the Food Court, or submit a mail-in entry as described above. Winning numbers will be posted on a tote board. To enter the drawing, you must be 18 years or age or older, but do not need to be present to win. Details, including a list of available prizes, are available in the Magical Day of Giving Official Rules, available at the Mall Management Office, or on-line at www.eastland-mall.com. Employees of Glimcher Realty Trust and its affiliate companies are not eligible to win prizes but may take advantage of the MAGICAL DAY VIP discounts.
Just how big is this event? In 2007, more than 8,400 shoppers and charity patrons attended Magical Day of Giving & Magical Night of Giving at Glimcher malls across the nation. Since 2004, Glimcher malls have raised $2,500,000 for over 1,500 non-profit organizations in the 22 cities that have participated.
